Option 1: Offline Credit Card Payment - Manual

Your customer will enter card details on your site. It will be sent to you in two parts. One part of the card number will go to your mailbox, the other part will be stored at the administrator side of your website. You can use your shop card machine to process the payment manually.

Requirements: Card processing maching on site

Advantages: Zero cost

Disadvantages: Although its 99.9% safe your customers will not see a padlock icon during the process and they may feel that the site is not fully secure.

Option 2: Offline Credit Card Payment with SSL Certificate - Manual
Your customer will enter card details on your site. It will be sent to you in two parts. One part of the card number will go to your mailbox, the other part will be stored at the administrator side of your website. Customer's details are encrypted and they will see a padlock icon on the website showing that they are in secure zone. You will use your shop card machine to process the payment manually.

Requirements: Fix IP Address, SSL Certificate

Advantages: Demonstrates provision of security facilities for your customers.

Disadvantages: Extra Costs

Option 3: Paypal - Automatic
Paypal is one of the most well-known and popular payment processor services available. Anyone can open a Paypal account and would be permitted to pay and receive money via their system. Paypal also now allows your customers to pay with their credit card directly. (ie. they do not need to have a Paypal account)

Requirements: Merchant Paypal Account

Advantages: Secure SSL, Low Setup Cost

Disadvantages: Many People do not like it; High transaction fee

Paypal: £0.20/transaction + 2.9% of transaction amount

Option 4: Protx/SecPay Secure Payments - Automatic
Protx/Secpay payment module enables you to use Protx/Secpay Forms. Includes 3D Secure and AVS checking option, automatic order updating. After your customer has selected the products and specified shipping details they will be transferred to a secure Protx/Secpay server and complete the payment process there. These pages can carry your branding but it will be clear that thay are on the Protx/Secpay site. After completing the payment process the customer can be linked back to your site.

Requirements: Merchant Account at your bank, Protx/Secpay Account

Advantages: Secure Payment, Low cost (You do not need to set up SSL Certificate for your site.), Protx/Secpay has a strong reputation so when customers arrive at the payment pages they will feel secure.

Disadvantages: Slightly less professional appearance than processsing the payment on your own site.

Bank: Please ask your bank about any charges to open a Merchant Account.
Protx: £10 Monthly fee - NO extra transaction fee;
Secpay: £10 Monthly fee + 10p Transaction fee

Option 5: Protx Direct/3D Secure Payments - Automatic
VSP Direct is designed to enable you to take card details on your own secure server and pass them across to Protx for authorisation. This would be a secure a server-to-server session that does not involve redirecting the customer visually to the Protx pages. This enables you to white-label the payment process. Your customer never leaves your site and they do not necessarily know that Protx is authorising the transaction on your behalf. However, in practice many merchants choose to tell their customers this in case they have concerns about credit card security.

Requirements: Merchant Account at your bank; Protx Account; Fix IP Address; SSL Cert.

Advantages: Secure Payment, Professional look and no redirection between sites.

Disadvantages: More expensive setup

Pricing:
Bank: Please ask your bank about any charges to open a Merchant Account.
Protx: £10 Monthly fee - NO extra transaction fee
Green Forest Design: £10.00 SSL + Fix IP extra/month + Setup fee: £150/site
Total Cost: £20 Monthly / £150 Setup
